Currently Under Secretary for the Lombardy Regional Council for High Level Training Research and Innovation. From 1994 to 2002 he has been the Dean of the Politecnico di Milano. Since 1999 he is a Board member of Unitech, an international program drawing together eight prestigious universities and a several international companies. In June 2003 he was nominated CNR extraordinary commissioner.
From 1998 to 2002 he was member of the BoD of ECP (Ecole Centrale de Paris).
In february 2002 he received a degree ad honorem in Engineering from the Ecole Centrale de Paris.
He wrote more than 40 articles in important international and national scientific magazines.
