Konrad Osterwalder

After one year in the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University, Dr. Konrad Osterwalder became researcher at Harvard in 1971, where he was appointed Assistant Professor of mathematical physics in 1973, as well as associate Professor in 1976. In 1977, Dr. Konrad Osterwalder was appointed Professor Ordinarius of mathematical physics at the ETH Zurich. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau, at the IHES in Bures-sur-Yvette, at Harvard, at the University of Texas in Austin, at MPI for Physics und Astrophysics in Munich, at the Università degli Studi di Roma - "La Sapienza," at the Università di Napoli, at the University of Tokyo, and at the Weitzmann Institute in Rehovot, Israel. Konrad Osterwalder was a member of the ETH Research Commission, President of the Planning Commission, head of the Mathematics Department and Founder of the seminar center, "Centro Stefano Franscini," in Ascona. In addition to his duties at the ETH Zurich, Dr. Konrad Osterwalder is Editor of COMMUN. MATH. PHYS., President and Treasurer of the International Association for Mathematical Physics, President of the IHES National Committee of the Swiss Academy of Natural Sciences, as well as Member of the Advisory Council at the Euler Institute in St. Petersburg.
